http://www.owensound.co The City Of Owen Sound is located on the southern shores of Georgian Bay in a valley below the sheer rock cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment. Owen Sound is characterized by a magnificent harbour and bay, two winding rivers, tree-lined streets, an extensive parks system, and tree-covered hillsides and ravines, which are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Owen Sound is the largest urban community in Grey and Bruce Counties, which combined represent a primary commercial market of 158,000.
At one time, Owen Sound was regarded as one of the finest harbours on the Great Lakes system. Referred to as the “Chicago of the North”, the city provided an important meeting point of rail and boat, the two principal methods of transportation at the time.
On September 21, 2012, The Roxy Theatre presented a very special evening of LIVE music.
1969 Revisited “FM DAZE”
It was the story of a late night DJ (played by Bob Wallace from 92.3 the DOCK) on an easy-listening radio station who fell asleep while the news was on.
When he woke up it was 1969. He had a stack of vinyl, a turntable and a microphone.
1969 Revisited took us on a musical trip back to the days of FM Radio. An era when the voice behind the microphone played the classic rock that changed the world one song at a time.
The all-star live band (Katie-Lynn Dandeno, Kevin Dandeno, Dave Fearnall, Hans Langedyk, Trevor MacKenzie, Ed Morrow and Bob Robins) Rocked the Roxy’s capacity crowd with music from the Guess Who, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Santana and many more resulting is a thunderous standing ovation.
The park features dining and recreation facilities, a full-service campground, boat rentals, a bird sanctuary, mini-putt, basketball courts, pools, and an open-air rink. Its network of trails leads through forest, fields and streams to Inglis Falls, and connects directly with the Bruce Trail on the Niagara Escarpment.”
With the help from Canada Council for the Arts, Theatre Ontario, and Ontario Arts Council, Lookup Theatre’s Artistic Director, Angola Murdoch, created a contemporary circus program for youth in Grey/Bruce County. Professional artists trained the participants and helped them develop and perform a circus show. Contact Lookup Theatre here http://www.lookuptheatre.com
